Energy Balls with a Healthy Dose of Passionate Living

I live life in a very passionate and all-in kind of way.

In fact; one of my dear friends told me, in kindness, that my passionate heart may be a little much for people. My response may have been a little cheeky but I told her "too bad...the world needs more passionate people and if being around me makes people uncomfortable then I am doing something right!"

My all-in personality poses a challenge when I try to achieve balance and this is a skill that I am learning and failing and learning daily.

Passion is a beautiful and necessary for every single women to possess and hold dear.

Passion excites the heart.

Passion drives your dream into reality.

Passion feeds the ability to be more passionate.

Passion is the take-your-breath-away realization that you are fully engaged with your heart in soul. It is using your skills and abilities to be of service to others and make a difference.

Passion is captivating.

I love hearing that I am passionate. It drives me to be more passionate. If you are ever given the compliment of being passionate, please do something for me. Do not apologize or back down from living passionately. Your family, friends, co-workers and the world needs you to be passionate. It is an act of true acceptance of who you are and striving to live according to your purpose. 

I find that the more passionate I am with my health, my faith, my wellness business and creating a life I LOVE to wake up to in the morning (take a breath whew!), the stronger my intentions are and the bigger my actions are to making this happen.

You see it all begins with passion.

And passion requires constant energy and self care. Every person needs to refuel their body to be passionate or else you are in danger of falling short of your intentions. Those big actions I am talking about will not even happen if I don't give your body what it needs! I tell myself these words as I am telling you.

My co-workers and friends know that I am a little obsessed with making energy balls. These nuggets of nutrition and energy are my go to snack, my preferred party favour and my night shift work staple. I was recently at my friend's Bachelorette Weekend Getaway in Montana and brought these along! They didn't disappoint and I soon had numerous requests for the recipe. I can't keep the recipe a secret any longer and wouldn't want to as this is such a great addition to your healthy life!

If you are looking to get more energy, have a healthy substitute for a snack, curb your craving for sweets and add more super-foods into your diet then you are in the right place!!!

My challenge for you this week is to make the Energy Balls; it will only take 20 minutes I promise, *Warning keep these in the freezer as it keeps them out of reach or you will eat them all within a day!*

Hint...they taste 100% better frozen!!

As you eat some of these treats, make a list of what you are passionate about and make a list of who you can be passionate about life with. This life is made to live together in community so find one and be apart of one that honours your passion.

Energy Balls

1/2 cup unrefined coconut oil

1/4 cup smooth almond butter

1/2 cup of crunchy peanut butter

1/2 cup of honey

1/8 unsweetened almond milk

1/8 cup of unprocessed cocoa  (if you want to be courageous, substitute for raw carob powder)

2 1/2 - 3 cups of gluten-free rolled oats

1/8 hemp seeds

1/8 cup of organic chia seeds

1/2 cup of unsalted sunflower seeds (substitute for pumpkin seeds) 


Combine the first five ingredients in a large pan; constantly stirring until smooth. Remove from heat and add the other ingredients one by one. 

Put parchment paper on a baking sheet and roll the mixture into small size 1/2 inch balls. Put in the freezer and in 30 minutes transfer the balls into a freezer bag or glass container. Keep the energy balls in the freezer and share with others!
